Description

The book begins with a factual picture of the health of Canadian children — the causes of disability, injury and death, the types of programs and policies in place and the success of such programs. It then examines the impact of public international law as it applies to the right to health generally and the implications of its interpretation for the right to health under the Convention and under current Canadian constitutional and criminal law.

The possible recourse to the Convention for a positive or restrictive interpretation of this right under the common law of Canada or the civil law of Quebec are the focus of separate chapters. The final chapter is a discussion of the difficult question of research involving children.
